Seasonal Inspiration {Summer}

As we enter summer, we’re sure numbers of brides are frantically searching for this season’s trends to add that certain spark to their special day.  Being wedding planners, we’re just as obsessed and have been on the lookout for the latest and greatest; hopefully taking some of the guess work out and leaving you with a few great ideas.

It’s summer…you want to look like the gorgeous bride that you are but there a couple important issues to take care of when it’s hot, humid and you don’t have a mini fan constantly blowing on your face.  First, comfort.  Second, easy access to touch-up items to keep you looking fresh.  Let’s talk about pocket dresses.  They give that flowy, casually summer but still stunning look to any wedding dress, long or short.  Plus, what’s better than leaving the purse at home and sticking a tube of lip gloss and face powder right in your pocket? Your maid of honor will thank you!

Next, keep it simple.  Rustic wedding themes are hugely “in” right now and we can totally see why.  There’s something romantic about drawing from the summertime favorites of your youth and incorporating that into your wedding day.  That doesn’t mean it can’t be beautiful; check out the photos below of cantaloupe slices doubling as place card holders with a floral arrangement that looks hand-picked from the garden.

Did you love nothing more than cooling off in the summer with a popsicle?  Be nice to your guests; cool them off with an icy treat.

How about a wedding cake without icing?  So many couples are incorporating their favorite desserts into a non-traditional cake (think strawberry shortcake).

Instead of just sticking to dancing, why not add a few summertime games to the mix?  Especially if your wedding is partially or fully outdoor, including games like croquet or bocce ball can be a great conversation starter for guests and will certainly provide a unique wedding experience.
