Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride & Groom: Anthony Troy & Latda

Wedding Date: November 3rd, 2012

Ceremony Location: The Episcopal Parish of All Saints' Church and St. George's Chapel

Reception Location: Rehoboth Beach Country Club

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met while living in the same condo building in July 2008. We would run into each other and said 'hello'. One day, Troy gave me a shirt for Buddha, my dog that was just a puppy  at the time and I thought it was such a nice thing since he did not even know me. Then in October 2008, Troy decided to knock on my door and asked if we could maybe hang out sometime. I said sure and that's how our love story started.
Tell us about the proposal: Well, Troy was very adamant about making sure I was surprised and off guard when it was time to propose. He did not want to do it on any special occasions, holidays or birthdays. In August 2011, we went on vacation with my best friend and her husband to St. Maarten. During our time in beautiful St. Maarten, my BFF, her husband, Troy and myself decided to go shopping and decided to go to the jewelry store that one of the vacationers at our hotel told us to go to, because that's where he gets all of his wife's diamonds. We left without a ring, but somehow Troy, my BFF and her husband, managed to pull one over on me without me knowing anything happened. Troy had the engagement ring for 8 months and I had no clue whatsoever. While I was traveling in the 2nd week of January, my friends planned a bowling belated birthday party for me at Mustang Alley in Downtown Baltimore on January 14th, 2012. All of our friends and my brother and his wife were there. Before the last round of bowling everyone wanted to see me open all of my gifts, which I thought was embarrassing considering my friends and I never did that before, but I just followed direction. The last gift that I thought was from my BFF, since she was the one who brought it with her, turned out to be from Troy and Buddha. When I opened the gift, it was the Louis Vuitton tote bag I wanted and a photo book that was put together by Troy with pictures from our first year together to the recent New Year's Eve 2012. When I saw the photo book, I started tearing up because I never had anyone put so much heart and soul into creating something so special for me. As I was looking through the book, poor Troy was on his knees for at least 10 minutes because I was going through the book so slow, but eventually saw that the pages towards the end had spelled out "Will you marry me?" I turned around and I just started to cry and eventually said "YES". It was one of the best nights of our lives and we look forward to many more.
What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Vintage with a touch of modern. My wonderful planner suggested Pinterest, which has helped me plan our wedding. I have created a lot of DIY for our wedding. Some of the items I created are tin cans with a vintage twist for our centerpieces, picture frames for the church with our initials wrapped with yarn, and our window seating chart that will be decorated with moss and greenery. I can't wait to see all of these items come together.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Being able to have my mom go through this process with me and to finally see the months of planning come together. I was able to find my creativity and crafty side that I never knew I had.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Spending extra time with my fiancee, planning the wedding together has been splendid!

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Being Mrs. Anthony Troy and having him see me for the first time in my wedding dress. I am also looking forward to my mother/daughter dance and just having fun with our family and friends.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Excited about seeing Latda walk down the aisle in her wedding dress and seeing how beautiful she will look. Becoming a family and having our two families become one and sharing this wonderful day with all of our loved ones who have traveled from close or from far away.
Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: All of my vendors have been fantastic to work with and we are so happy & glad they will all be a part of our special day. Through the whole planning process I have worked more with Erin Proud and to see her excitement and enthusiastic attitude, whenever we would meet or talk, just puts my mind at ease.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: No worries because I have the best wedding planner and her sidekicks with us on our special day :)

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: I would say what makes our wedding unique, is the details we have put into all aspects of the wedding from the window seating chart and centerpieces, to the letters that will be hanging on the church's front door. We wanted to make sure that each detail would represent both of us.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Ready, Relieved, Happy & Excited

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Well, after our November 3rd wedding, we will be preparing for our 2nd wedding, which is a Thai ceremony on November 10th. We will go on our honeymoon next summer when Troy is done with teaching. We haven't decided yet on where we would like to go, but definitely somewhere with clear blue water and free flowing frozen drinks :)

Anything else you'd like to share?: We would like to thank our families and friends for their love and support as we take this journey together. We would also like to thank Erin Proud and her team for being there and helping us with this process and all the other vendors who will make our wedding day special for us. Thanks so much for your help.

Names of Bride & Groom: Brittany and Luke

Wedding Date: October 20th, 2012

Ceremony Location: St. Vincent Martyr, Madison, NJ

Reception Location: Park Avenue Club, Florham Park, NJ
Tell us about the proposal: Looking back, she had to assume something, as I was never this spontaneous, but she still attests that she had no idea she was sitting on top of the ring that would find its way on to her finger within a mere 12 hours. It was on the beach of Avalon, NJ were I first saw and told her that I could see growing old with her, so it only seemed fitting that it was where I ask her to marry me. After the drive down, we planned to wake up early so we could see the sun rise. I barely slept that night, nervous we would sleep through it. Walking onto the beach, I switched the ring box to another pocket so presenting it would be easier. Thankfully, she was distracted with the pooch. We sat down on the sand, chatted for a bit, and when the sun first shone through the clouds, I stuttered and stammered my way through a "will you" speech. She cried, the dog wagged her tail, and we were on our way to being husband and wife.

What is the overall theme for your wedding?: "Fall in Love". We love the rich vibrant colors of the fall and we wanted to incorporate that as much as possible into our wedding.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: My favorite part of planning has been the dance lessons. The best piece of advice I received from my friends who are newly married was to make sure I set aside time for Luke. You can get so caught up in all the details you forget why you are getting married. The hour we spend together dancing is great.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: My fiance's favorite part was the dinner sampling, food is his specialty. This is where he made most of the decisions.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I'm looking forward to seeing all our hard work come together, and to making a promise to spend the rest of my life with my fiance.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: The reveal, I can't wait to see how beautiful she looks.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: This is a tough one we've been very lucky to work with some amazing vendors. First we would like to recognize Erin and Krista, for guidance and inspiration. They were wonderful with coming up with specific details that will make our day that much more special. Our photographer Jennifer Childress has also been amazing. We were able to get a sneak peek of her work during our engagement session. She was so wonderful and entertaining. She has a great eye and we really love her vision. We cannot wait to see the finished product from the wedding.
What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: The weather...I really am hoping for some amazing pictures, other than that, I know Krista will have everything under control!

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: Our dance is choreographed to a very nontraditional wedding song. We hope our guests really enjoy it.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Luke: Pass the Aleve. Brittany: Hit the gym!

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: There's a story behind this. When you think of the traditional Bride, you think of a girl who wants a big formal wedding with all the bells and whistles. That's not me. I originally wanted a destination wedding with just Luke and myself (I guess you would say I wanted to elope). I pictured a beautiful island with lots of colors and a beach backdrop. Luke didn't want that. He wanted to be surrounded by all his family and friends on our big day. So we decided to go with his vision. Throughout the process he saw me get frustrated with making decisions and the financial burden of such an extravagant event that he wanted to wanted to do something special for me. His wedding gift to me is the honeymoon of my dreams. He worked very hard with our travel agent and booked a phenomenal honeymoon to the Intercontinental Resort and Thalasso Spa in Bora Bora. He planned everything down to the dinners each night and our couple's day spa. Anytime I would get stressed with planning or anything wedding related I just Google pictures of Bora Bora and I instantly find my Zen. Thank you baby...I love you.

Anything else you'd like to share?: We would like to thank our family and friends for all their support. We especially would like to thank my Father for just "going with it", The Caulfield's for always offering their help (even though Helen has a concussion), my MOH Bisera for throwing me a beautiful Bridal Shower and an unforgettable Bachelorette party in Vegas. They have been instrumental in making this happen (and keeping me calm).

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride & Groom: Kate and Anthony

Wedding Date: August 25th, 2012

Ceremony Location: Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Elkins Park, PA

Reception Location: The Atrium at the Curtis Center, Philadelphia, PA

How did you and your fiance meet?: One day in May of 2008 we met at Rittenhouse Square Park while hanging out with friends. We kept glancing over at each other but didn't say a word. A few nights later Anthony had a party at this house and made sure I was there. We didn't leave each others side for the entire night- three days later we had our first date and the rest is history!

Tell us about the proposal: A few weeks after we graduated from college we went to the Dominican Republic with Anthony's family to celebrate. Two days before we were set to leave, Anthony told me that we had a dinner set up for us and to be ready at 6pm. Anthony and I then walked down the beach to find a gorgeous table set up for two. The table and surrounding beach were covered in rose petals. After a dinner with all my favorite foods Anthony proposed to me on bended knee as the sun set in the background with the most gorgeous ring. It was the best night of our lives.

What is the overall theme of the wedding?: We are going for a classic and glamorous feel. Blush pinks and apple green will be our colors.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Can I say everything? From the venue searching to the dress hunting, the flower design meetings, it's all be incredible. It's been such an incredible joy to be able to plan so closely with my Mom and sister. Every major planning meeting they were there for, despite the long travel and it's been nothing short of wonderful.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Planning the food of course!

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Where to begin! I can't wait to see Anthony for the first time. We decided to not only see each other before the ceremony but also drive to the church together with all our friends and family. I know that will be an incredible time! Once we get to the church I can't wait to walk down the aisle with my father. We have always been so close so I know that will be a special time for us.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Seeing me for the first time in my dress and spending time with family and friends.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Erin has been incredible throughout the entire planning process! It was great to work with her to find the perfect venue and plan a vision. Seeing the flowers Brittany at Petals Lane put together brought tears to my eyes. My mom and I were shocked at what she came up with. I know Erin and Brittany are working hard to come up with a gorgeous day and we can't wait to see it! Another one of our favorite vendors has been John Shetron. He has been a joy to work with thus far. He has such an incredible eye and is a true artist. We loved every second of our engagement shoot and can't wait for him to document our special day as well as many other special life events!

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: That it will be hot. We know there is nothing we can do about that so believe us we aren't that worried!

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: Anthony and I aren't trying to do anything crazy or different. We are having a day that is all about us, our love and family!

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Best day ever.

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Anthony planned an incredible honeymoon for the both of us. We will be spending two weeks traveling throughout Athens and the Islands. We are beyond excited for it!

Anything else you'd like to share?: Let's party!!!

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride & Groom: Lauren and Peter

Wedding Date: July 14th, 2012

Ceremony Location: St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Philadelphia, PA

Reception Location: Cairnwood Estate, Bryn Athyn, PA
How did you and your fiance meet?: On vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Tell us about the proposal: Peter had been planning a trip for several months, but wouldn't tell me where we were going (despite my nagging). I thought this was somewhat suspicious, and talked to my mother about it. My mom is quite sneaky, however, and convinced me not to expect anything "big" on the vacation because Peter hadn't "asked her permission" yet. This totally threw me off since I knew how traditional Peter is and knew he'd definitely ask my mother for permission before asking me to marry him. On the way to the airport on the day of the vacation, Peter told me we were going to Italy- starting in the town of Bellagio on Lake Como, then traveling to Florence, Venice and Milan! We had been to Italy in September 2009 during our first trip to Europe, so I was ecstatic to go back and totally forgot about my suspicions. The second day in Bellagio, Peter suggested a hike through the towns around Lake Como. As a reprieve from the hike, we stopped to take pictures at a bluff overlooking the Lake. Peter began telling me a story about this time he went to brunch with my mom when he was in Philadelphia...when he actually asked for permission from her! When I turned back around, Peter was down on one knee and proposed to me with the most beautiful diamond ring I had ever seen! Fun fact: Unbeknownst to Peter, June 3rd is also the date of my Grandmother's wedding anniversary.
What is the overall theme of your wedding?: We don't have a "theme" per se , and we don't have a "color scheme" either. We both knew we wanted our wedding to be elegant, romantic, and traditional, but we also wanted it to be fun, so we didn't want to stick to a formula and would rather let our vision grow organically along with Erin's help. We envisioned an upscale, al fresco dinner party with fabulous food, followed by an all-out dance party with a live band. I'm pretty excited to see it all come together on the day of the wedding!
What has been your favorite part of planning?: Looking at all of the pretty pictures for inspiration on various wedding websites and blogs. I also loved wedding dress shopping!

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Planning out our menu. Definitely.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Seeing my fiance at the end of the aisle as I walk towards him and knowing that I'll be his wife. We're not doing a First Look- we're very traditional in that respect- so I bet that walk will be emotional.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: If I were to ask him, he would probably say he's looking forward to just being married, but deep down I know he's most excited for the awesome food and the spectacular band!

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Does anyone ever NOT answer "Erin from Proud to Plan!"? If so, they're crazy. Erin has been an absolute blessing while planning this wedding and I definitely could not do it without her. Other than Erin, I really clicked with Brittany from Petals Lane the first time I met her and I could not possible be more excited for our flowers! Bernadette from Jimmy Duffy's Catering has also been amazing to work with.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: I'm definitely worried that it's going to rain, but like Erin says (via Outkast) "You can plan a pretty picnic, but you can't control the weather."

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: We're going to Mauritius, an island in the Indian Ocean off the coast of Africa, for one week of relaxing on the beach. After that, we're heading to South Africa for a 5-day safari at a luxury resort in Kruger National Park. We both cannot wait!

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride & Groom: Clare and Anthony

Wedding Date: July 14th, 2012

Ceremony and Reception Location: Sweetwater Farm in Glen Mills, PA

How did you and your fiance meet?: I had heard great things about the new neighbor, Anthony, who had moved in next door to my sister, Penny, in Trolley Square in the spring of 2006. I was living in Dallas at the time, and didn't meet him until a trip home for the holidays later that year. I will never forget the first time I met Anthony...he sleepily answered the door one morning to me bothering him for a key to get into Penny's house. Without saying much, he handed me the key and quickly shut the door. I happily let myself into Penny's house and moments later, a more fully-clothed, Anthony appeared. He apologized for being rude, and sat down to chat with me for a while. I remember being blown away by how friendly and outgoing he was, and we quickly became friends. Our friendship grew from afar through email, phone & travel. I eventually moved back to Delaware and we became a couple in January 2009...the rest is history!!
Tell us about the proposal: After a particularly long week of work for Anthony, we decided to lay low and grab some dinner at the Half Moon in Kennett Square. Initially, Anthony hadn't planned on proposing that night, but he did have the ring and was waiting for the right moment. Life can be busy and complicating, but Anthony and I have always savored nights like that...great food, drink, music and company. By the time we got home, Anthony had decided that it was "the night", and suggested that we take our first night swim in our pool. Before we went outside, I unknowingly said "if you ever propose, I hope it's on a night like tonight." I obviously had no clue what was about to happen. We headed outside with 2 glasses of wine, our dog Rocky and jumped in! I wanted the pool light off, but the darkness made Anthony's plan a little difficult. Cue Rocky: while swimming we heard a crash- the dog had knocked over one of our wine glasses. There were shards of glass all over the love seat in the deep end. Ant eagerly jumped out to turn the pool light on, so we could clean up the mess. As I was picking the last piece up, Ant said that he saw another shard at the bottom of the deep end. In my mind I was thinking "he is going to cut himself at the bottom of the pool", so I was really shocked when he popped back up holding a ring, and asked me to marry him. I think I kept saying "is this for real?", but eventually said YES!!! What a perfectly, unperfect night!
What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Rustic & Romantic (and "Life is Good")

What has been your favorite part of planning?: My favorite part about the planning hasn't really been the planning at all... Other than getting to marry my best friend, I have really enjoyed bringing our two friend groups and families together. It will make the wedding that much more fun now that everyone knows each other!

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: That its almost over- haha!
What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Seeing Anthony for the very first time- he will look so handsome and he has such a calming effect on me!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: To quote him: "Seeing how beautiful you look at the reveal and then the cocktail hour and the initial celebration with friends and family."

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: That's a tough call, we have awesome vendors! Erin has been amazing to keep me focused and organized. My photographer, Jordan Hayman, is so talented and a super cool guy, Honey Gorny of Honeybunches Floral has been so much fun, and Lisa Benigni at 12th Street Catering has just been a visionary blessing throughout this process!!

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: 100 degree, humid weather!

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: We have spent a lot of time to have many personalized touches: Instead of a typical guestbook, we had a digital artist create a tree that has our initials carved into the trunk. Guests will stamp a leaf and sign their names. At the bottom it says "Davis family planted on July 14, 2012". My mum made so many details from custom burlap table runners, to a "thank you" banner, to our heart-shaped birdseed favors, and mossy letters "A & C" to decorate our sweetheart table. Also, since Anthony is a cigar guy, we have also been collecting cigar boxes that our florist will use for our flower arrangements down our family-style tables. I'm also pretty excited about the crepe station that our caterer didn't bat an eye at creating for us!

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Exhilarated, Happy, Tired!

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: We can't wait for our honeymoon...we'll spend 2 weeks in Napa, Maui and Kauai!

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride and Groom: Marcy and Dermot

Wedding Date: June 23, 2012

Ceremony and Reception Location: Bride's childhood home in Haverford, PA

How did you and your fiance meet?: I went to school with his little sister from 3rd-9th grade and always had a little bit of a crush on her very cute older brother. When his sister switched schools after 9th grade we lost touch. It wasn't until about 15 years later when we friended each other on Facebook and started chatting. What I thought, at first, was just a hopeful reconnection with an old crush quickly grew into a wonderful relationship that I don't think either of us could have expected.
Tell us about the proposal: Dermot tried hard to surprise me with what he knew I wanted more than anything for Christmas (an engagement) by pretending he was actually getting me the other thing I was really wanting (a puppy). Unfortunately, however the surprise was spoiled when I came across the ring box in his coat pocket the day before Christmas Eve. We had agreed to exchange presents between the two of us on Christmas Eve morning because we had so many other family engagements throughout the rest of the day. So when I came downstairs that morning he had wrapped a dog crate and tried to distract me with all kinds of puppy noises but when I turned around after finding the dog crate empty, he presented me with the most beautiful ring I have ever seen and made me an exceedingly happy woman.

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: The overall theme is an elegant modern garden party in purple (if that can be a theme). I have loved using Pinterest for my inspiration board.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: I have loved the time that I have spent with my fiance as well as the things that we have been able to learn about ourselves and each other through the process. I also really love design and flowers and so figuring out tablescapes has been really fun too!

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Learning that as a couple we can do anything together and still have fun while doing it.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I am really looking forward to seeing my fiance for the first time that day and having a little alone time with him. I am also looking forward to letting go and having a blast with our family and friends!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: I am most looking forward to seeing her for the first time in her dress, and being able to spend our day together with friends and family.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: This sounds like I am just saying it- but really, it has been Erin- she is so enthusiastic and fun, we felt so comfortable with her from the beginning- I know that my wedding is in good hands with her!

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: I am worried that I will be too worried about other people and not be able to be in moment and enjoy myself.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: Two words: Donut Bar

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Happy, tired and peaceful

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Antigua

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride and Groom: KC and Eli

Wedding Date: June 16th, 2012

Ceremony and Reception Location: Congress Hall Cape May, New Jersey

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met our freshman year at Duke University, but it all started in Stone Harbor, NJ where I grew up and where Eli's parents had a summer home. Eli's parents bought a summer home on 89th Street in Stone Harbor and while on a walk in September of 2003, she noticed a car in a neighboring driveway with a Duke sticker on the back. She asked around and found that the neighbor had a daughter who was also a freshman at Duke. Eli's mom called to tell him the news and suggested that he email me. He looked my picture up in the freshman facebook (a hardcover book before Facebook as we know and love existed) and thought I looked acceptable enough to email. When I received the email from a total stranger who knew not only my name but where I lived, I was a little freaked out that I had a stalker. Luckily, my roommate knew him from class and assured me he was normal and, as it turned out, we had mutual friends. We started off our relationship as friends, bonding over our little shore town that we both love, and a year later it turned into something more.
Tell us about the proposal: After 6 years of dating, Eli convinced me to take my mom's dog for a walk on the beach on Christmas Eve. I was very hesitant since it was about 40 degrees out, but was finally convinced. While my back was turned I could hear him fiddling with pieces of paper. When I turned around he was on one knee reading the very first email he ever sent to me which started our relationship. As soon as I realized what was happening I immediately started to cry. When we walked back to my house both of our entire families came out on the top deck waving and cheering. Not only was I clueless about the engagement but both of our families knew what was happening and were there to toast to our engagement right after it happened. It was absolutely perfect.
What is the overall theme of your wedding?: During the planning process I never picked a theme or colors because I didn't want the wedding to seem too theme'y or contrived. The best way I can describe it is romantic, beachy, preppy, and shabby chic all at once.
What has been your favorite part of planning?: My favorite part of planning has been working with my mom. We talk every single day; not that we didn't talk frequently before, but she has been very involved and so helpful. It is really nice to have a project to work on together and I know I will be sad when this is all over.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: The food tasting! That is all he could talk about when we first got engaged and Congress Hall did not disappoint.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I am looking forward to the "ahhhh" feeling- the day I have been planning for a year and a half and have been thinking about since I was a little girl is finally here and I just can't wait to stop overthinking and planning and worrying. I can't wait to take it all in and relish the few hours that I will have all of my friends and family in the same place at the same time.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Tasting the food again! He wants to have five minutes to eat a plate of every single food item from the cocktail hour and eat in peace. If we can make it happen it won't even matter what else happens that night.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Erin and her team at Proud to Plan have been really wonderful. I also had an amazing experience with Robyn at Chick Invitations in Philadelphia. I had no idea what exactly I wanted and had too many printouts of things that I liked. Robyn was able to take all of my ideas and created the most unique and perfect wedding invitation I have ever seen. I even received compliments from Eli's fraternity brothers on how they loved the invitations- that is how you know it is really good.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: I am all about the details and the little touches that make a couple's wedding unique to them. I don't want it to get to the day before or the day of and realize that I forgot something or regret not having time to finish a project.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: Almost everything will have meaning and will have a story behind it. The kiddish cup for the blessing of the wine was Eli's dad's as is the tallis we are using for the Chuppah and the knife we are using for the challah blessing. The crystal champagne flutes we are going to use at the reception were given to us from my dad and are handmade from Ireland with our names etched onto the bottom. Eli's uncle painted a watercolor portrait of us in front of Congress Hall which we re-purposed as our response postcards and the front of our wedding program. The Chuppah is going to be a labor of love between my aunt, uncle, and mom collecting driftwood from the beach. We will have almost 200 mason jars scattered throughout the wedding that were all collected by my grandmother. The list goes on and on. Even if all of our guests don't know the back story or meaning behind everything, Eli and I will and it will make our day that much more special.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Relief, joy, and I am sure a touch hungover.

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Moorea and Bora Bora!

Tell us about your proposal: On our first trip out of the country together, Paul and I decided to go to Ireland. On our first night in Dublin, Paul took me to Saint Stephen's Green to walk around the park before our dinner reservation. Just before leaving the park, Paul brought me to the pond, got down on one knee, and proposed!

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: We are going for romantic/elegance with lace accents and light pinks and whites.
What has been your favorite part of planning?: My favorite part of planning has been the invitations. We had to look very hard for them and I think they turned out amazing!

How did you and your fiance meet?: In my aunt's living room when I was 15 and Phil was 19. Phil was my older cousin's best friend.

Tell us about the proposal: Phil was supposed to be up in Philadelphia for school (and had called me "from Philly" earlier in the day). He then told me that my dog was sick and that I should go home early. So, around 6pm, I walked out of my office and turned to go down the metro escalator. Of course I had my head in my blackberry and was so tuned out to the world. As I started to walk to go down the escalator, I heard someone shout something and then footsteps running towards me. Being that it had happened before, I thought that there was a homeless person chasing me so I ran until I reached a wall and couldn't run any further. I then looked up and saw Phil but it didn't really register. He got down on one knee and proposed but I was still so shook up from the incident that I said 'no'. Of course, a couple seconds later my wits returned and I kissed him and said yes.

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: We have a Philadelphia theme. The wedding is in Philly but we have lived in Washington, DC for years now and just love being able to incorporate all of the Philly details. The table names are names of historic Philly places and the table cards include a 1940s hand colored picture of the historic place. We also have cheesesteak and soft pretzel party favors, a Philly Phanatic ice sculpture and "Philly-themed" entrance music (Philadelphia Freedom for parents, Motown Philly for the bridal party and the Fresh Prince theme song for the bride and groom).

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Seeing how excited my mom is when I tell her about the details.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: He plans stuff?

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Dancing and eating (although that might be the same as everyday)!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Definitely dancing. I probably should bring some extra shirts for all of the sweat...

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Erin and Lisa of Proud to Plan and Tony and Amy of Hoffer Photography. They have all made us so comfortable and are so easy to talk to!

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: Tripping. I am extremely clumsy. Since we are taking our pictures before the ceremony outdoors, I could totally see myself tripping in the grass and showing up to the ceremony covered in grass stains.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: The Philly-themed details and the eclectic groups of people.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Tired, reminiscent, happy

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Thailand and Cambodia. We figured we didn't have too many opportunities to go half way around the world to some exotic location and didn't want to pass it up. There will be a mix of site-seeing, beach-bumming and sampling of exotic foods.

Featured Bride Friday

Names of Bride and Groom: Joanne and Matthew

Wedding Date: April 28th, 2012

Ceremony Location: Saint Patrick's Church

Reception Location: Memorial Hall at the Please Touch Museum

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met at a 4th of July party on our friends' roof deck in Philadelphia. My best friend and Matt's best friend had been dating for 3 or 4 years but we had never crossed paths until that 4th of July at their party.

Tell us about the proposal: First of all, I was completely shocked. I was not expecting it- AT ALL. We were spending our usual weekend in Dewey Beach with all of our closest friends and having our typical sunset happy hour on the beach, just hanging out like we always do when Matt asked me to go for a walk. I thought it was funny that he wanted to leave everyone and go for a walk, especially since it started to drizzle a tiny bit, but the three of us, Matt, Andre (his 12 year-old chocolate lab) and I went anyway. We walked for a little bit and then Matt pointed out something in the sand, it said MF+JF? written in a big heart. I looked down at it and next thing I knew he was on his knee proposing! My new initials will be JF, so that's why he wrote it with a question mark, instead of MF+JA which we have written in the sand before and have a framed photograph of. What was the most special about this was that 2 of our friends had "gone on a walk" before us and photographed the ENTIRE thing!!! It was then an instant party since our friends were there and the most amazing day of my life. I will never forget it.
What is the overall theme for your wedding?: I really didn't want to have a theme, especially since Memorial Hall is such a gorgeous building and I didn't want to take anything away from that. Because it is Spring, I really just want the florals to stand out. We have selected a more garden variety in all shades of pink. I'm excited to see what our florist, TableArt, creates.
What has been your favorite part of planning?: All of it! Especially shopping for my dress and picking out the save-the-dates and invitations.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Both tastings- the dinner and especially the Isgros Cake.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Celebrating with ALL of our friends and family and creating unforgettable memories with Matt.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: He said seeing me for the first time in my dress.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Of course Erin! She is the best and on top of EVERY single detail.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: Logistics- getting everyone where they should be, when they should be there, but really I don't need to worry about that because Erin will be there. Other than that, we are hoping most of our flower girls and ring bearers make it down the aisle somewhat uneventfully. There are 8 kids total from ages 2-9 so it's going to be chaotic but cute.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: That it's for Matt and I!

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel the day AFTER the wedding: Exhausted, excited for the honeymoon and SO happy that we just had an amazing wedding day!

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Hawaii- Kauai and the Big Island as well as a short trip to Napa on the way to Hawaii.

Anything else you'd like to share?: So excited for the big day to get here!

Featured Bride Friday

With spring wedding season upon us, Featured Bride Fridays will be making a comeback here on the blog! First up is Roberta, who is getting married next Friday. Read on below to find out about her wedding plans.

Names of Bride and Groom: Roberta and Allen

Wedding Date: April 20th, 2012

Ceremony Location: Winterthur Museum and Country Estate in the Gallery

Reception Location: Winterthur Museum and Country Estate in the Visitors Center

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met at Dover Mall in Dover, Delaware. My sorority sister felt that Allen was a wonderful guy and pleaded with me to give him a chance. Allen gave me a call a few days later and initially I did not answer. However, I had a change of mind and called him back. After talking for hours, we figured out that our lives have always crossed beginning at Delaware State University until the present time. I guess it was time that we met to spend the rest of our lives together. On April 20th, 2009, Allen asked me to be his girlfriend and we have been together ever since.

Tell us about the proposal: Allen always stated that I completed him on every level so I was not too surprised when he proposed. He asked me to meet him at Silver Lake Park in Dover, Delaware where on one of many dates we took night walks in the park. I had an idea that he was going to propose but I did not think too much into the idea. Allen and I walked in the park and he waited until I got to the swing and he quickly got on one knee and stated "I love you, Will you marry me?".

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: The overall theme for our wedding is "Simply Classic". We are simple people that like to show just enough which makes things beautiful. We love clean lines and details which we feel makes our wedding unique, intimate and personal.

Do you have an inspiration board you'd like to share?: The inspiration for our wedding comes from the grounds of Winterthur Museum and Country Estate. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and have a classic charm that is just enough for Allen and I. Also, our invitations that were designed by Paper by Proud, added the special touch needed for our theme.
What has been your favorite part of planning?: My favorite part of planning has been the constant support from family and friends. Also, dress shopping was wonderful since it gave me an opportunity to be the simply stunning woman I am and to see what I looked best in for our special day.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: My fiance's favorite part of planning has been the food tasting at Winterthur and the cake tasting at Liz Marden Bakery. Allen is in love with good food and sweets.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I look forward on my wedding day to spend time with family, putting on my wedding dress and walking down the aisle with my mother.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Allen looks forward to the food as well as spending time with family.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: All of my vendors have been wonderful. I love working with Erin and TJ Proud from Proud to Plan, Brittany from Petals Lane, Tami and Ryan Garber of Tami Melissa Photography, Kim and Ruth of Curvy Girl Bridal, Kyle and all of the staff at Synergetic Sounds, and Jennifer Lamb from Winterthur.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: My biggest worry is that I will be late and I will trip when I am jumping the broom.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: We are very family oriented so we want to keep our wedding unique, intimate and personal. During the ceremony, we will add in a wine box ceremony so we can relive our wedding when and if times become overbearing. We are using the traditional vows "for richer or poorer..." since these vows pertain to our lives and will keep us strong and together in this marriage. At the end, we will seal the deal with an African American tradition of jumping the broom.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Relaxed, Relieved and Ready to begin our new lives as husband and wife.

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: We are spending our honeymoon in Atlantic City, NJ.

Featured Bride Friday

Today's featured bride is one of our own coordinators, Annemarie! She is getting married tomorrow to Jimmy, a friend of Erin's since kindergarten. We love Annemarie (and Jimmy!) so much and are beyond thrilled to be coordinating their wedding with a FABULOUS group of vendors. We'll be back on Tuesday with some teasers from their awesome wedding but for now, read on below to get to know Annemarie and Jimmy and the plans for their big day!

Names of Bride & Groom: Annemarie and Jimmy

Wedding Date: November 26th

Ceremony and Reception Location: Abbie Holmes Estate

How did you and your fiance meet?: He was a bouncer at a college bar, I was trying to get into the bar and I got in- about a year before I should have ;) We saw each other around campus periodically and always said hi. On a random Thursday night (about 2 years after we first met) he came to my sorority house and we began talking. About a month after that night we were officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Tell us about the proposal: Jimmy contacted our family and friends and organized a surprise dinner. I was told we were going to dinner to celebrate what would have been his grandfather's 92nd birthday. When we arrived to the restaurant he ran in front of me and then showed me to the banquet room. I was a little confused as to why we would be in a banquet room but didn't think much more of it. Jimmy opened the door to the room and while I was looking around the room seeing family and friends (people who would not have been celebrating his grandfather's birthday) he was already down on one knee. By the time my eyes made it back around the room, I was in shock and he asked me to marry him in front of all our family and friends. It was the most amazing night and so special because we were able to celebrate with everyone right away! We even went back to his mom's house with our immediate family and close friends and continued celebrating into the night and next morning. Our families organized a beautiful breakfast to help continue celebrating.

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: To have a party! The decor will be black and white with hints of purple. Centerpieces will be orchids and lots of candles. We wanted simple but classy.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Being able to work with the best in the industry.

What has been your favorite part of the planning?: Picking the venue and the food (we are both foodies).

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Jimmy to see me for the first time in my dress and our first dance together.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: To see the excitement on all of our guests' faces.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: They are all our favorites because we have the dream team!!! Proud to Plan, Paper by Proud, Jennifer Childress Photography, Synergetic Sounds, Manic Botanic, OC Cake Studio, Andy Mahany (officiant) and our beautiful venue- Abbie Holmes Estate.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: Making sure we take time to enjoy ourselves.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: We have made it a point to focus on our family and friends in every aspect of the wedding. Friends and family have been invited to stay for the weekend in houses rented in Sea Isle City. Our moms will be included in our ceremony. Dinner will be served family style. Because it is during a holiday weekend, we are able to spend Thanksgiving with family and friends we normally wouldn't see.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Best. Party. Ever.

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Bora Bora for Christmas and New Years.

Below is a picture of their invitation we created for Annemarie and Jimmy! We love the simple black pocketfold and the subtle pop of color with the purple belly band. We can't wait for this weekend!!

We're SO excited for Amanda and Andrew's wedding in two weeks! Read on below to find out more about the plans for their wedding day!

Names of Bride and Groom: Amanda and Andrew

Wedding Date: Saturday, October 29, 2011

Ceremony Location: St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ardmore, PA

Reception Location: The Baldwin School in Bryn Mawr, PA

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met online (plentyoffish.com). I set up my profile so I couldn't see anyone outside of 60 miles from where I was living in central PA. Andrew's profile came up as someone I might be interested in who recently checked their profile. I thought he looked cute, so I clicked on his profile and discovered he actually lived 150 miles away, in King of Prussia. However, I like to shop and his profile was smart and funny, so I messaged him regardless. No one else ever showed up outside of my 60 mile radius- we say it was fate! We started messaging through the site, then Andrew asked for my email, next my phone number, and eventually suggested we meet. Always the gentleman, Andrew offered to drive to see me for our first date in Lewisburg, PA. We have been together ever since our first date on October 18, 2008.

Tell us about the proposal: We went out to eat at Buddakan for our 2 year anniversary. I suspected he might propose that evening, but Andrew is excellent at keeping secrets, and I wasn't sure the entire time until he suggested we go on a walk after dinner. Andrew proposed on a bench beside the 2nd Bank of the U.S., near Independence Hall. Andrew was so nervous he forgot most of what he wanted to say. I cried and said yes!

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Classic elegance with a shot of color- our wedding colors are red and plum!

What has been your favorite part of planning?: I have loved working with Proud to Plan, of course! I have loved picking out attire (I even had red velvet shoes custom-made for me inspired by a Valentino design), picking out the reception location, food, flowers, and planning the church ceremony with Andrew.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: The tasting of our menu!

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I am most looking forward to being married and celebrating a wonderful day with people we love! I am also super excited to find out where we are going on our honeymoon- Andrew has planned it all by himself and will tell me at the reception!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Celebrating with friends and family!

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Proud to Plan- I am very type A, and Erin has really eased my mind and helped me feel organized while planning this very large wedding! Her vendor suggestions have also been incredibly helpful!

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: I am worried about bawling during our ceremony!

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: I think the combination of our unusual color scheme and architecturally significant reception location make our wedding unique!

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Elated, relieved and excited

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: I don't know- Andrew is surprising me at our reception. I do know it will be warm, and I need a passport!

Thanks for participating in Featured Bride Friday, Amanda! Here is a picture of Amanda and Andrew and an inspiration board she sent us!

Featured Bride Friday

We are so excited for our fall weddings! Read on below to find out about one of our October brides, Erin and her fiance, Rhett!

Names of Bride and Groom: Erin and Rhett

Wedding Date: October 15th, 2011

Ceremony Location: Lower veranda at White Clay Creek Country Club

Reception Location: Veranda Room at White Clay Creek Country Club

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met on Fat Tuesday in 2008. I was not happy to be at the bar my friends went to. A friend of mine knew a friend of Rhett's and they started talking. Rhett made a comment about how he liked my "red" shoes. I politely replied "they are pink," which incited a friendly banter about my shoe color. (Technically, they are raspberry.) We talked about many other things that night, including our mutual love of horses and exchanged numbers. Our first official date was a week later.

Tell us about the proposal: Every year since we've been together we vacation with my parents and our dogs in Saratoga Springs, NY over Labor Day weekend. This also happens to be closing weekend at Saratoga Racetrack, which is the primary reason we travel there. 2 years ago, while at the racetrack, we were walking and one of us mentioned that a proposal on the finish line at the racetrack finish would be a good spot. The following year, my parents and brother joined us after the races for a drink. Rhett, my dad and brother, separated themselves from myself and my mom to "go to the bathroom." While they were gone, I spent the time complaining to my mom how he kept saying that because of the economy we couldn't get engaged until the end of the year (I thought he was having cold feet). Rhett and the rest of my family returned and we starting walking. He started saying really sweet things about how much he loves me but he always says things like that so I still wasn't catching on. The next thing I knew, he wasn't next to me anymore because he was down on one knee and asking me to marry him. Of course I said "YES!!!!"

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Our wedding theme reflects our mutual love of horses. Our wedding colors are Orange and Purple with Dark Brown accents (Rhett went to Clemson University). We've used our theme from the placecard table (interlocking horseshoes made from daisies), to the signature drink (mint julep...of course!!), to the placecards (featuring jockey jersey in different colors to denote meal choice) and lastly to our "Mr and Mrs" chair signs which will say "Stallion" and "Filly."

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Thinking of ways to incorporate our theme without being too overbearing.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Good question...

What are your looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Celebrating with friends and family!!!!!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: He says seeing me walk down the aisle.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: TJ and Erin Proud!!! (I swear this isn't a solicited plug.) TJ has been really helpful and the invitations came out unique and beautiful. He's helped make my ideas come alive. Also, TJ and Erin helped bail me out of an invite fiasco (After I ran them over with my car. Long story......)

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: Weather...the ceremony is outside. It's covered but I'm worried I'm worried it will be too chilly or too hot.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: I think our theme and ways we've incorporated it, is pretty unique.

Give three words to describe how you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Tired, Excited and full of Love.

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: We are island hopping for 2 weeks!!!!! (Thanks to my awesome and loving fiance!!!)

Thanks for participating Erin! Below you can see their invitation and a picture that is the inspiration for their centerpieces.

Ceremony Location: Old St. Mary's Church- Philadelphia

Reception Location: The Atrium at the Curtis Center- Philadelphia

How did you and your fiance meet?: We met at my best friend, Amy's shore house in Wildwood. Anthony was friends with her boyfriend at the time and we all met at the shore for a night.

Tell us about the proposal: Anthony took me to dinner on September 17, 2009 to Gnocchi off of South Street in Philly. It was a nice night, so after dinner we walked around the Penn's Landing area and ended up along the water. Anthony asked me to close my eyes and when I opened he was on one knee asking me to marry him. Of course I said yes! My dad and my sister were there to celebrate with us afterwards. It was a really special night.

What is the overall theme of your wedding?: Since everything is in Philly, I have used the city skyline throughout my planning. It started with the save the dates and continued from there. Everything is black, white and pink for a classic yet fun look.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: I have been planning this day for a long time. I have magazines saved and wedding binders with my ideas. I knew what I wanted and loved putting it all into place. My favorite part will be seeing it all come together that night.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: I know he loves me dragging him to some of our vendor meetings but overall he has left the planning to me :)

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: I can't wait to see Anthony that day as I walk down the aisle. And for the dancing, I cannot wait because our band is great!

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: He said seeing me for the first time that day walking down the aisle.

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: Obviously Erin Proud! She has been amazing. Once we decided to use her services, a weight was lifted from my shoulders. Also, Amy Reese from Clair Pruett and Society Hill Studios. She really gave great ideas and made my choices a lot easier for photography and videography. Her videos are amazing! I cannot wait to see ours.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: I think I am most worried about the weather...with the recent rain and hurricane I do not want that to spoil our day.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: It will be the most fun! We have really put a lot of thought and effort into everything we planned and I want it to be the best time!

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel like the day AFTER the wedding: Sad (because the wedding is over); Excited (for the honeymoon); Thankful (that the day went smooth and everyone had a good time)

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Aruba!

Featured Bride Friday

September is a busy month for us! Here is another one of our September brides!

Names of Bride and Groom: Sherrie and Howard

Wedding Date: September 17th, 2011

Ceremony and Reception Location: The Water Works, Philadelphia

How did you and your fiance meet?: I was working at a law firm that handles real estate closings. Howard came into the office for the closing on his condo, and I was his settlement attorney. It turned out to be a difficult transaction and we were stuck in a conference room for 5 hours. A month (and many emails and phone calls) later we started dating. 2 years later, we became engaged. The rest is history!

Tell us about the proposal: After spending a weekend together doing fun activities around town, Howard surprised me with breakfast in bed on Memorial Day. Then he knelt down beside me and asked me to be his forever friend, with his two cats sitting next to him. It was very private and romantic and caught me by surprise!

What is the overall theme for your wedding?: We don't necessarily have an overall theme, but our style can be  best described as contemporary, minimalist and intimate.

What has been your favorite part of planning?: Shopping! For clothes, shoes and unique treats for our loved ones and out of town guests.

What has been your fiance's favorite part of the planning?: Planning the honeymoon.

What are you looking forward to most on the wedding day?: Seeing all of our family and friends who have come from near and far to be with us that day.

What is your fiance most looking forward to on the wedding day?: Seeing me walk down the aisle. And, eating the delicious food!

Which vendor has been your favorite to work with?: We have two favorites. Erin has been the most responsive and helpful of all our vendors. She is truly a consummate professional and always offers valuable advice, from vendor recommendations to stylistic suggestions. And, she has received my numerous and wordy messages without complaining once or revoking my email privileges!

Our photographer, Scott Lewis, has gone above and beyond to communicate with us about ideas, logistics and suggestions. We are confident that his pictures are going to capture our wedding day beautifully and honestly.

What is your biggest worry about the wedding day?: Bad weather. We've had some crazy weather recently in Washington, DC area where we live- and earthquake and a hurricane- and we are hoping for a dry and sunny  wedding day since our ceremony and cocktail hour are outdoors.

What makes your wedding unique from all the others?: Our venue is an historic landmark and is absolutely gorgeous. Our ceremony will be unique in that we are incorporating Christian and Jewish traditions and putting our own spin on them.

Give three words to describe what you imagine you'll feel the day AFTER the wedding: Elated, Exhausted, and Excited for our honeymoon!

Where will you be spending your honeymoon?: Fiji!
